Shielded in His Love, April 7, 2020 Holy Week

It is a beautiful Spring day today. Early this morning I was sitting out on my deck, watching the birds and squirrels at the feeder and then my eye caught something in the grass. A little gopher. He scurried here and there picking up any little seed he could find that the birds had knocked down from the feeders. Nature--a way of expressing the magnificence of our Creator God. Joy welled up inside of me and as that joy grew this morning my voice proclaimed the goodness of God and my thankfulness for all that surrounded me today. As I read the Psalms this morning, two verses stood out:

"But let all who take refuge in you rejoice: let them sing joyful praises forever. Protect them, so all who love your name may be filled with joy! For you bless the godly, O LORD, surrounding them with your shield of love." Psalm 5:11-12 (NLT)

As we are all "taking refuge" during this time of COVID-19, the Psalmist invites us during this time to take our refuge in God for it is there that we are SAFE AT HOME! Safe in the covering of our Heavenly Father, surrounded by his SHIELD OF LOVE! Think about that for a moment, joyful protection in the love of our precious Lord! There is no other place I would rather rest my heart and soul during this Holy Week--how about you?

We are all safe under the shield of His love!
