March and Lent Begins

March brings many things: Fellowship Breakfast at the Lake Shack every Tuesday morning at 9:00; Lent begins on Ash Wednesday, March 2; the Alliance of Churches Lenten Soup Suppers and Worship Services (see schedule) begin; Fellowship Breakfast here at the church on the first Sunday of Lent—the 6th at 9:30; turning our clocks ahead on Sunday the 13th, and looking forward to Spring (and fishing of course)! In the meantime, we continue our Bible Study and are having a great time of learning together. It is definitely a full month of opportunities for fellowship and worship.

But what about having these opportunities--especially the ones that are here at Trinity? From our Sunday worship opportunities, coffee fellowship before worship, Bible Study, Fellowship Breakfast—all provided to help each of us get not only better acquainted with one another, but to enjoy the presence of the Lord and love He gives. I would invite you to take advantage of all these different opportunities.

As we begin March, we turn our hearts toward Lent and Easter. Why Lent? It is a time in the liturgical calendar to take extra time to reflect on the loving sacrifice of our Savior for each of us. It is a time to be thankful for sins forgiven. It is a time to be thankful for amazing love that is everlasting. It is a time to be thankful for life eternal—all because of Jesus. But it is also a time to celebrate the love of Christ in us to be expressed toward one another! Peter writes to “love one another earnestly from a pure heart.” ( I Peter 1:22) Let us love one another and the Lord with passionate hearts!
