Itchy Ears 2 Timothy 4

God's Word is the believers guide to both truth and practice. In the last days, people will desire to hear messages that tickle their fancy, allow compromise, and will settle for less than what the true gospel declares. People will not want to hear the demand of the Scripture for holiness and living in right standing with the oracles of God's instruction to us on how to live in the world and not be of the world.

The Holy Spirit gives a warning to all Bible believing Christians to remain faithful to God and to submit to His Word. For many, this will result in persecution of one sort or another.

Paul's admonition to Timothy is to "keep your head in all situations." In other words, don't let the things of the world, the voices screaming for an itchy ear message and compromise. Keep the faith to stand strong despite opposition that may come in one way or the other.

This is a strong message to pastors and the church today--do not compromise God's Word. Stay faithful to it. Fight the good fight of faith so when it is all said and done, the Lord is glorified and we will receive our righteous reward at the Lord's appearing.
